Good morning,
Genesis 26:15-34, “And Isaac dug again the wells of water which they had dug in the days of Abraham his father”
We began to look at undoing what the enemy has done and that is going back to dig the wells covered. People pray for revival and I believe in revival but the definition most people give revival is not actually what it is. Revival is coming again into activity and prominence. Revival is about renewal, restoration, recovery, simply bring back. This what Isaac needed to do, revive the wells to be effective, productive, living and flourishing. Are you reviving your wells? God could have told him to dig new wells but the word of God says, He is a God of restoration (reviving). Bringing back to life that which is dead, for example God is speaking about restoration in Joel 2:25, He says, “So I will restore (revive) to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, The crawling locust, The consuming locust, And the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you”
Genesis 26:25, “So he built an altar there and called on the name of the LORD, and he pitched his tent there; and there Isaac’s servants dug a well“. God will not say something He has no answer for. To us it may sound foolish but to Him He knows what He is doing. If you are living by facts, you will not make it with God for long because many things that God does and asks us to do not make sense but they sure work. You go and revive your wells Isaac and I will cause water to flow says the Lord. At the place they revived the wells, is the place they built an altar and pitched their tents there. Why, because where your life is is where you dwell.
Revive your altars of worship before Him, revive your prayer life and let Him cause His Living Water to flow. His Water will quench the thirst you always have when nothing else satisfies. Thank God for His promises that never fails. Men may fail but God will never, the bible says that “He is not a man that he should lie neither is He the son of man that He should repent, if He said it, surely it will come to pass” paraphrased. “Surely” means without fail, we may not know the timing but surely we know He will. If He created out of nothing, He will make His water run from the unexpected.
Because Isaac was obedient to go back and dig the wells, God caused the water to flow and the Philistines saw clearly and in vs. 26 “Then Abimelech came to him from Gerar with Ahuzzath, one of his friends, and Phichol the commander of his army. 27 And Isaac said to them, “Why have you come to me, since you hate me and have sent me away from you?” 28 But they said, “We have certainly seen that the LORD is with you”. They had been hostile to him before but after seeing the Lord’s doing, Isaac found favor with them and he also showed them kindness.
We still have much to do in our surrounding. To be effective, we have to have our wells with water. Why are you not affecting your department, is it because you have allowed an enemy to fill your wells of joy, peace, favor, confidence, hope with guilt, shame, pride, fear and habits? You have a reason now to undo what has been done because you need your well of salvation running and then build an altar and pitch your tent around the wells you have dug. But remember this truth, it is not your digging that brings about water. Blessings Ev
