Good morning,
Psalm 18:3, “I will call upon the name of the Lord who is worthy to be praised so shall I be saved from my enemies”
We run into unexpected things many times, unplanned stuff. You were fine then all of a sudden you became sick. You had a job then out of nowhere you got laid off. You know of those things that catch you unprepared. Dealing with sudden things are more tougher than dealing with something you were prepared for. Un expected leaves you in great shock, disoriented and helpless. This is the time people find it hard to think straight, panic jumps in, worry becomes a side effect because like I said you were not prepared for it.
Knowing where to run to first in such moments is key. Astronauts on a mission keep close contact with control center. They always want to make sure everything is in place and the moment something goes wrong, their first action is to alert the mission control center, “Houston, we have a problem“. Believers have a mission control center. We are here on earth on a mission and as our mission progresses, we constantly keep close contact with the mission control center (heaven) and when something happens, our first response is to send a message to our control center. Often times we find it hard to call control system immediately we run into a problem. Instead of going to the control center, we panic first, start running around, looking for who we can call on, doctors, lawyers, banks, friends and whoever you would call on. With this I would say that God becomes second or last resort when plan “A” is failing or when plan “A” need to be strengthened. Our desire is to call on Heaven when we have our problems first, send a telegram, email, send fax to heaven. Heaven has a direct line called prayers and when you think you are going to get a busy signal or think that there will be a voicemail or go through an operator, remember Jesus dying on the cross cleared the lines. With the lines cleared, whenever you call, call on the name (Jesus). We have no access without that name. What an awesome opportunity to call on heaven when I have a situation and the password for the believers is “IN JESUS NAME“. Ever wondered why we pray in Jesus name, a preacher preached on this sometimes and it blessed my heart the way he put it. When Jesus was on the face of the earth, though He was a 100% God and a 100% man, Jesus went through what we human beings go through. Now God the Father has never gone through any of these stuff we go through everyday but Jesus has, He knows what it means. So when we pray in Jesus name, Jesus goes to the Father and says, “Father, I know what it feels like to be in that kind of situation, I have been there”. Romans 8:34, “Who is he that condemeth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us“. As we pray in His name, He stands in the gap for us before the Father. Our Lord knows what it means to go without, to be sick, to loose something or someone. When you think He doesn’t understand, check again.
It’s very clear that heaven desires to help us when we are in need. Psalm 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble”, Just looking at this verse, I see four things that make it good to trust in Him, I see that He is our refuge, He is also our Strength, and don’t forget that He is also present and not just present but He is our help in time of trouble. I see a continuity and a progress on the verse. The first thing we all need when we are in trouble is God and when God is in the picture instead of Him dealing with the problem first, He gives us a place of refuge and then strengthens us to cope with the problem as He is a dealing with it. When we don’t know what to do, God already knows what to do and He will do it when we give Him a chance.
Psalm 18:3, “I will call upon the name of the Lord who is worthy to be praised so shall I be saved from my enemies”. David tells us the importance of calling upon the name of the Lord when we are in trouble. I recall the times David was faced by many challenges and his first call was to the mission control center. KJV uses the word, “Inquire”. And every time he inquired of the Lord, the Lord helped Him to overcome his enemies. Most of the time what makes you uncomfortable is some type of enemy and what a joy to know that God has already devised a plan to help you overcome it. The Lord may use other means, the doctors, lawyers, bankers and even friends to accomplish what you are dealing with, but He is our first priority when we have an issue. Watch this as I close, why God first and not people and other means, well as you wait for people to try and fix something, you will not be at peace until it’s done, at times you will not even be sure whether they will do it. And being that you are waiting, you will not have peace as peace leads to patience. God gives first the peace and comfort even in the midst of your situation while He is dealing with it. You will be at peace to trust that the same God who gave you peace is the same God who will fix the problem. Control Center, we have a problem, Help me
Thanks
